Who we are and what this policy covers
Pocket Index is provided by Tapston ("Pocket Index," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy applies to the Pocket Index mobile application and this policy website.
The current version of Pocket Index does not provide user accounts or cloud synchronization. If those features are introduced, this policy will be updated before they are made available.
Information processed only on your device
With your permission, Pocket Index reads images available through your device's photo library. It identifies screenshots and processes them locally to provide organization and search features.
The following information is stored locally on your device:
- screenshot images and thumbnails;
- text recognized from screenshots;
- categories, tags, titles, dates, and other index information;
- favorites and category corrections; and
- search queries and local search results.
We do not receive this content. It is not uploaded to our servers, Firebase, OpenAI, or any other cloud AI provider. Pocket Index does not use your screenshots to train machine-learning or generative-AI models.
Limited technical information sent off device
Pocket Index uses Google Firebase services to understand whether the app works reliably and to improve its performance. These services do not receive screenshot images, recognized text, search queries, or your local index.
Google Analytics for Firebase
Analytics may process:
- an automatically generated app-instance identifier;
- app version, device type, operating system, language, and general technical information;
- general location derived by Google from a masked IP address, not precise GPS location;
- app lifecycle information such as launches, sessions, and screen interactions; and
- subscription-related events such as viewing the paywall, selecting a plan, starting a purchase, and the product identifier associated with a completed purchase.
We use this information for product analytics, feature improvement, and measuring the reliability of the subscription flow. Pocket Index has no advertising and does not use Analytics data for cross-app tracking or targeted advertising.
Firebase Crashlytics
Crashlytics may process:
- crash stack traces and relevant application state;
- Crashlytics and Firebase installation identifiers;
- device model, operating-system version, app version, and diagnostic information; and
- event breadcrumbs describing app activity immediately before a crash.
We use this information only to diagnose crashes and improve stability. Firebase states that Crashlytics retains crash traces and associated identifiers for 90 days before beginning removal from live and backup systems.
Google generally acts as our service provider or data processor for Firebase data. See Privacy and Security in Firebase and the Google Privacy Policy.
Subscriptions and payments
Purchases and subscription management are handled by Apple's App Store through StoreKit on iOS. We do not receive or store your payment-card number or bank details. Pocket Index receives product and entitlement information needed to activate Premium and restore purchases.
Apple's processing is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy. You can view, change, or cancel an iOS subscription from your Apple Account subscription settings.
This policy website
This page is hosted using Firebase Hosting. When you visit it, Firebase Hosting may process request information, including an IP address, to deliver the page, prevent abuse, and provide hosting usage information. Firebase states that Hosting retains IP data for a few months.
This website does not set our own advertising cookies, embed analytics scripts, or use third-party fonts.
Storage, retention, and deletion
On-device information
Your local index remains on your device until you clear it in Pocket Index settings or delete the app. Original images remain in your photo library until you delete them using your operating system's photo-management tools.
Analytics and diagnostics
Analytics information is retained according to the retention settings and rules applicable to our Google Analytics for Firebase property. Crashlytics information is retained as described above. We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes stated in this policy, subject to service-provider retention, security, and legal requirements.
Sharing and sale of personal information
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising and do not operate an advertising network.
Limited technical information is processed by Google Firebase and Apple for the purposes described in this policy. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a corporate transaction, subject to applicable legal safeguards.
Your choices and privacy rights
- Photo access: change or revoke access at any time in system settings.
- Local data: clear the local index from Pocket Index settings or delete the app.
- Subscription: manage or cancel through your Apple Account.
- Privacy requests: depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal information.
Because Pocket Index does not operate accounts and does not receive your screenshot library, we cannot access or recover on-device screenshot content. For other privacy questions or requests, use the developer support contact shown on Pocket Index's App Store product page.
International processing and security
Firebase and Apple may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Their processing is subject to their contractual, organizational, and legal safeguards.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the limited information we process. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Children's privacy
Pocket Index is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect names, email addresses, or screenshot content from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us through the developer support contact shown on the App Store product page.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Pocket Index evolves or legal requirements change. We will publish the revised policy at this URL and update the effective date. If a change materially affects how information is processed, we will provide additional notice where required.
